Hello, my name is Amrita and I am thrilled to be a part of Joy of Reading! Currently, I have a day job in Healthcare IT. During my free time, I engage in various hobbies such as gardening, cooking, along with spending time with family and friends and volunteering for various organizations.

Growing up, I remember cherishing the few books that I had. No matter where I was or what I was doing, my books transported me to a place of wonder. I could be flying through the sky with or having tea with one of my favorite fictional characters. It was a way to escape reality even if it was just for a few moments. I was able to immerse into new worlds just through words on a page. One of my greatest pleasures was going to a book fair and picking out one book to buy. My favorites were the pop-up and colorful story books which also became the first books that I read to my kids as well. They had so much joy reading and interacting with these books, especially the pop-up ones.

I want to help bring this joy of reading to other kids as well and to give access to books to those who do not have it. To me, a world without books is a sad thing to imagine. I hope that through Joy Of Reading I can ensure that young minds without access to books will get the chance to travel to fantastical worlds, read about their favorite animal, and expand their knowledge and insight on hundreds of topics!!
